Ask five developers in Dhaka what a website costs and you'll hear five different answers, from ৳5,000 to ৳5 lakh. Both can be honest prices. They're just for very different things.

What actually drives the price
- Custom design or template. A template is cheap because the design work is already done. The trade-off is that your site looks like thousands of others.
- Number of pages. Each page needs layout, content and testing.
- Payments and logins. Anything that handles money or user accounts needs more careful building and testing.
- Who writes the content. If you provide text and photos, it's cheaper. If the agency writes it, expect to pay for that time.
- Two languages. A full English and Bangla site is close to building every page twice.
The yearly costs people forget
A website isn't a one-time purchase. Budget for these every year:
- Domain name: renewed every year. A .com is usually cheaper than a .com.bd.
- Hosting: from free (for simple static sites) to several thousand taka a year.
- Maintenance: updates, backups and small edits. Either you do it, or you pay someone monthly.
Always ask who the domain is registered to. It should be in your name, not the developer's.
How to compare quotes
When two quotes differ a lot, ask each developer the same questions: Is the design custom? How many pages? Who owns the code? What happens after launch? Is hosting included, and for how long? The cheapest quote often leaves one of these out.
