Facebook page or website: does your business need both?

For many businesses in Bangladesh, the Facebook page is the business. Orders come through Messenger, customers find you through shares, and it costs nothing. So why pay for a website?

When a Facebook page is enough

If you sell a handful of products, most customers already know you, and you're happy answering every message by hand, a well-run page can carry you a long way.

Where Facebook starts to hold you back

  • You don't own it. If your page is hacked, restricted or loses reach after an algorithm change, you can lose your customers overnight.
  • Google can't find you properly. When someone searches "birthday cake delivery Uttara", a website can rank for that. A Facebook post rarely does.
  • Every order is manual. Messages get missed, prices get repeated a hundred times a day, and orders live in chat history.
  • Some customers don't trust it. Corporate clients, foreign buyers and older customers often look for a website before they pay.

The best setup: use both

Keep Facebook for reach and conversation. Use the website as the place where things get done: a clear menu or product list, prices, delivery areas, and a way to order or book without waiting for a reply.

Then link them together. Put the website in your Facebook bio and posts, and put a WhatsApp or Messenger button on the website so people can still chat when they want to.

Think of Facebook as your shop window and your website as the shop.

If you're getting more messages than you can answer, that's usually the sign it's time.
